Polka Doodles and Cupcake Craft Challenges.

Good afternoon all
Just as I start this post the sun has come out and boy is it warm when it does.

Today I have used the sketch from Polka Doodles (http://polkadoodle.blogspot.com/ ) as seen below.

Then I used some of the images from the Polka Doodles sugar birdies CD rom I have just received to include animals and flowers for the Cup Cake Craft Challenge (http://cupcakecraftchallenges.blogspot.com/ ). Also as part of this challenge you had to use brown, green and pink.
I have taken two photos as the colours are quite pale and don't show up very well.
Hope you like it and as ever comments are appreciated. I am nearly up to 1000 hits after 3 weeks blogging, I think thats quite good. Thanks to everyone for their interest.

Five challenges in one this time...

.....will I never learn to take things easy!!!!

Right then here goes, the first challenge was Papertake Weekly (http://papertakeweekly.blogspot.com/ ) where I followed their sketch as shown below.

I then followed the ingredients from the following:-

Animals and Fibres at Doodle Palace (http://doodlepalace.blogspot.com/ ).

Friendship at Cute Daisy May Challenge (http://cutedaisymay.blogspot.com/ ).

Yellow as your main colour from ABC Challenge (http://abc-challenge.blogspot.com/ ).

Finally, BLING for example pearls, gems, glitter or diamonds from Creative Inspirations (http://creativeinspirationschallenge.blogspot.com/ ).

Phew!! My card therefore includes a rabbit, butterfly and bee who are all great friends with the fairy who has glittery wings. The flowers are both gems and the picture is mounted on yellow glitter card. The stamp is a woodware clear stamp. The picture was also coloured with Sakura stardust gel pens. The fibres are down either side of the image.
I have included a close up of the main image because my camera has not shown it terribly well

I think that just about covers it. As alway comments are gratefully received.

Saturday Challenge, Sketch Saturday and Stamp Something Challenges

Good morning all on a miserable day in Devon.

My card today fulfils three challenges and I had a little help from my 5 year old choosing the buttons.

Firstly, Saturday Challenge was to include 3 buttons, 2 design papers and a ribbon. The buttons are the flowers which are on top of the white silk ribbon and the two design papers are from red Hot Bed.

Secondly, Sketch Saturday is to follow the sketch below, which I really liked.

Thirdly, Stamp Something's challenge was to stamp a bug, butterfly or other winged thing. I therefore, found my beautiful Kay Carley stamp of a dragonfly and coloured in the Kay Carley way with my trusty Sakura stardust gel pens. The sentiment is also one of Kays. The dragonfly and sentiment have been mounted on pink glitter card as has the whole card.

I am really pleased with the result and hope you like it too.

Colour Create and Sketch & Stash Challenges

So much for a scorcher this summer. Since my daughter finished school for the 7 week holiday it has not been very good at all. Still it does give me more time to make cards and join in the challenges which I am really enjoying.

My card today is Blue and white for the Colour Create Challenge #23 at http://colourcreatechallenge.blogspot.com/

I have also followed the sketch at Sketch & Stash, challenge #15 at hhtp://sketchandstashchallenge.blogspot.com/ a copy is here.
I have turned the image around and made the strips wonky on purpose as I usually can't do them straight anyway!! The papers are from the Funky Seasons CD, the image is a new one from Dustin Pike (another freebie), I have used some old glitter card and some pearl brads. The snowman is coloured in using a Sakura stardust gel pen and glitter glues.
Hope you like it.

Its a Crafters Companion Challenge

Well, I tried to enter the first challenge with Crafters Companion and ended up missing it by one day - doh!!

Anyway I thought I would give it another go and here it is. Yes, I have used the Popcorn Bear CD 'Floral' for everything except the tag which is from the 'Birthday' CD. Oh and the gems but can't remember who they were from. I had printed out most of the stuff to make a birthday card anyway so I fitted the papers in with the sketch so I could enter the challenge.

I haven't linked this to any other challenge becuase I just wanted to make sure I got it done and in the Crafters Companion challenge. I love and own nearly all the CD roms and a lot of the stamps to, so I wanted to support their new challenge blog -

Hope you like my card and please let me know!

Three challenges in one card

I must admit this was not as easy as it looks getting all the elements required for these challenges. However, I did it and again enjoyed the process. The challenges are as follows:-

One Stop Craft Challenge ( http://onestopcraftchallenge.blogspot.com/ ) where you had to use the theme 'Christmas in July' .
Pile It On (http://pileitonchallenge.blogspot.com/ ) where you have to use watercolours on your project.
Finally, Moving Along with the Times (http://movingalongwiththetimes.blogspot.com/ ) where the theme is 'Cute as a button' and there is a sketch to follow as shown. There has to be at least one button on the card.

I have used Papermania papers on the outside. The image is from the Craft UK 'Christmas Collection' of stamps and is coloured in using Caran D'Ache watercolour pencils and some glitter baubles. The tag on the outside is from MCS 'A Classic Christmas' and has a button in the top right hand corner.
I really hope everyone likes the card and I would appreciate your views.

The current challenge is animals and I have a lovely card that I thought would be suitable. It was made using Joanna Sheens Messy Dragon stamp which I coloured in using water colour pencils.

I hope you like this card as it took a long time to get right.

Truly Scrumptious and Digital Tuesday Challenges

Hello all
I have managed to combine two challenges again today.
The Truly Scrumptious challenge #12 http://trulyscrumptiouschallenges.blogspot.com/ which is a sketch including beads. This is the sketch.

Then I have also entered the Digital Tuesday challenge #16 - "Christmas in July" which has to include a digital stamp http://digitaltuesdaychallenge.blogspot.com/ .
My card was made using the father christmas freebie from Dustin Pike (thankyou see my sidebar for a link) and papers and tag from the MCS CD 'Magic of Christmas'. I also used some gold miri card and a feebie from Papercraft inspirations - the beads held in Santas hand. Oh and I almost forgot the white bits on Santa are glittered not sure it shows up too well in the picture.
I am really enjoying these challenges, they are making me think and work outside my comfort zone.

Bye for now

Polka Doodles & A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

What I here you say another post on the same day! Well I had to get this in on time having missed the one on the Crafters Companion blog - Doh!!

Anyway this is my effort using the Tropical birdies download found here http://www.polkadoodles.co.uk/

I have also used a backing paper from the MCS Lavender & Paperlace CD.
Just trawling through the challenge blogs and found that A Spoon Full of Sugar are doing a challenge that has to have swirls in the picture, so this card fits the bill nicely.

Good luck everyone.

Blog Candy time

I have just spent the last hour or so looking at other peoples blogs and checking out the blog candy thats available at the moment. I can't believe how generous people/crafters are. I spent quite a while learning how to add the links etc - as I am so new to this game.
However, I am absolutely addicted. The craft blogs I have visited are so diverse and full of such inspirational content. I keep adding my name to the followers list but I haven't got clue when I will be able to follow them!!!
I am also trying to enter some of the challenges that are avalable at the moment in the hope of improving my style which I feel is still rather amateurish. Again loads to chose from and I will add the links when I find some.
Anyway enough of my ramblings for tonight. Sweet dreams everyone.

Last day at school

So the end of Dragon no 1's reception year has arrived. She wanted me to make a card for her teachers and this is what I came up with. I used a couple of images I found at Scrapbookingmad - link in my sidebar - I think they were decoupage ones. Anyway my daughter loved it so lets hope her teachers do as well!

The Beginning

Well like a lot of other crafters out there I have decided to take the plunge into blogging. I hope some of you out there will like the cards I post - some of which will be my daughters. Although I have been crafting for about 5 years this has been at the same time as having two children and working part time. Needless to say sleep deprivation has also been a factor in reducing my output.
So above here is one of my most recent cards made for Dragon no 1's 5th birthday.

Hope you like it and feel free to comment.
