It's so distressing

Hello everyone in crafting land, hope you are all OK. Todays card was fun to do because I got to rough up my card. I used some of the ideas on the Just Magnolia site - I used the edge of my scissors along the edge of the purple Core'dinations card I used under the image and the whitewash card under the sentiment. I also sanded the whole piece of card too.

No surprise then that I am entering the Just Magnolia challenge this week - the prize is a whopping $50 from Heidi at Simon Says - Wow. I have used the sketch at Magnolia Down Under shown below, and of course

for both these challenges you have to use a Magnolia stamp, I have used another pre stamped image that I received in a candy win. I have coloured it with a purple Stardust gel pen and my koi water brush. The snowflakes have been sparkled with crystal glitter.

The sentiment is from a Fairy Doodles stamp set which you can find here. I have further distressed this using my Distress Ink - Dusty Concord, I have also used this around the main image too. I have also punched out some snowflakes from the whitewash card and purple glitter card and layered them up. The ribbon was from my stash with another piece tied on it. The background papers I have used are from Funky Fairys and are called Dots are distressing and Slightly Spotty.

The other challenges I am entering this card in are : -

Lily-Boo Too Challenge - Purple,

Lots To Do - Distressing

Practical Scrappers - white core or colour core card,

Sophisticat Challenge - Wings

Everybody Art Challenge, - Distressing and

Design Dollies - Distressing.

Please let me know what you think - I love reading your comments always.

First Commission

Hi everyone on a nice cold Monday morning. This is my first ever commission and it came about after my last wordbook that I made for no 2 Dragon daughter. I took it into work to show some of my colleagues and someone said they would love one for their daughter - and here it is.
I have used My Craft Studio to get the letters sorted out on the background paper which also came from one of their CDs Walk into Wonderland. I have used the Fairy Friends Stamps from Pink Cat Studio for all the images and most of the sentiments.

The animals are coloured in using watercolour pencils and I have glittered their wings using Glitz it Sparkles. I also used my Quickie glue pen around the letters to add crystal glitter to the edges.

I have also used a lot of punched flowers and put brads in the centres - mainly Papermania ones I think. On this sentiment above I shaded the edges with my chalks - purple and pink.

I have also used gems in the centres on this letter. The rabbit is on a scallop punched shape as was the owl and the sentiment is from a Crafters Companion CD Rom - Boys and Girls. I have mounted it on glitter card. The rabbit is on glitter card too.
Finally I had to make the box and here it is -

The flowers are from Just Pots Funky Flowers and again they have brads in the centres. The fibre was from a Candy win - thanks Lyn AKA Spyder. The font I used is called Spahrty Girl and is free. I made the box using my Crafters Companion Ultimate Pro - easy peasy!!!

I am also entering this card in the following challenges :-

My Time to Craft - So many scallops,

Creative Card Crew - Ribbons and gems,

Flutterby Wednesday - Butterflies or fairies,

Allsorts Challenge Blog - Bring out your Bling,

Sophisticat Challenges - Wings and

One Stop Craft Challenge - A childs card (mine loved hers!)

Please let me know what you think, I really do love looking through all my comments. Also if some of you have had trouble getting onto my blog it should now be sorted - I had a virus from my count down to Christmas blinkie!!!

Funky Fairy Sale and an Award

Just had an email to say there is a sale at Funky Fairys - a whopping 40% off everything. But don't delay this is only until Monday.

Just checked out my comments and was insructed to visit one of my favourite blogging buddies Lyn AKA Spyder , she always makes me laugh and usually has a link to a fab new font. She has won loads of awards and asked a few of us to pick one. Not having enough time to answer loads of questions and being a bit lazy!!!! I picked this one.

Thanks Lyn and Big Hugs back to you.

My first Easel Card

Hi everyone, and yet another first for me and they are all the rage at the moment. If you want to have a go there is a link on the Crazy 4 Challenges which is one of the challenges doing easel cards this week. The other one is Saturday Challenge - easel card so I decided to do one. Let me tell you it is really easy so please do have a go.

The only problem I had was getting a decent photo to show it was an easel card!!!! I have gone with the Pink challenge at La La Land one of my favourite colours. The main image and the lined paper was from a mini kit at Creative Cottage - some lovely kits here and very reasonable. Thanks to Donna for introducing me to them!!! The Frame is from a Funky Fairys kit called A Chocolate Covered Christmas. The snowy paper is from the Jingle Jangles CD by Polks Doodles. The sentiment was a stamp from Craft UK called Santa and Pals.

I have decoupaged the christmas tree and put glitter around the outside. The button is from my stash and I stitched in onto the card with some pink fibres.

The other challenges I am entering are : -

Sassy Designs - her first challenge of Christmas,

Alphabet Challenge - D is for Decoupage,

Stampin B's Design - Christmas Card and

The Little Paper Shop - Use a digi stamp and an ordinary stamp (hope this qualifies).

As ever I really look forward to your thoughts.

Hubby's Birthday Card

Hi everyone in craft land, this has to be a quick post so my husband doesn't see his Birthday Card. I have used the sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches shown below.

The circles around the outside made me think of some card I bought about 5 years ago and have never used - can't remember where I bought it sorry. Anyway this is the green circle card which I have layered onto a black base card. The image was a freebie last week from Digital Delights Riley at his laptop - they have a new one this week which you can found here - you have to sign up though.

I have coloured him using watercolour crayons all using different shades of black, green and blue and the laptop was coloured using blue and green metallic crayons - unfortunately the photo doesn't show this. The Blue and green card are from the ROY.G.BIV set at Core'dinations. They have been sanded and crumpled for a distressed look. I have also done faux stitching around the image using my white gel pen.

The other challenges I am entering this card in : -

Paper Cutz - Black, White, Blue and Green,

Quixotic Paperie - their first challenge of Birthdays,

Bee Crafty Distressing and

Crafty Catz - Dotty.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and my husbands too!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi everyone in craft land. Hope everyone is OK on this windy rainy day. I just can't seem to get a decent photo anymore - sorry.
Well even though we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in England I do have some relatives in the USA - California - and this will be handed to my Aunty-in-law at the weekend hopefully. I won the Turkey image in a blog hop at Whimsie Doodles a couple of weeks ago - isn't he great. I really wanted to use him so as it is the right time of year here he is.
I have used the sketch at Create4Fun which is shown below.

The bakground paper with Autumn written all over it if from my Funky Seasons CD Rom from Funky Hand. The Orange paper is from my favourite set at Funky Fairys called Simply Brushed as is the brown piece the sentiment has been printed on.

I love that sentiment and so appropriate at this time of year. The image has been coloured using my watercolour crayons - dry!! I have then mounted him on brown glitter card with foam tabs.

I finished the card off with some beautiful Flora Doodles flowers I bought from Joanna Sheen. The ribbon under the sentiment is from Anita.

The other challenges I am entering are : -

One Stop Craft Challenge - Newspaper or text,

Saturday Spotlight - In so many words,

Get Funky - Autumn Woodland (plus Funky hand product),

The Pink Elephant - Use Brown, Yellow, Neutral plus a colour of your choice (Orange),

Kaboodle Doodles - Autumn,

Digital Tuesday - Flowers,

Simon Says Challenge - Thanks/Thanksgiving and

Funky Fairys Challenge - Fall plus a FF Paper.

As ever I look forward to reading what you think, thanks for taking the time to comment.

Three little Mice

Hi everyone and I hope it is sunny where you are. I had to rush home from work and picking my little Dragon up so that I got a decent picture - looks a bit pink but I assure you this card is white on white except for the image of course. I have used the sketch at Crafty Angels, a new challenge spot I have found , and is shown here.

I so enjoyed my last white card that when I saw the challenge at Penny Black - White on White plus a PB image I thought yes I want to do that one - luckily I have one set of PB images which I received when subsribing to one of my craft magazines (can't remember which one it was so long ago!). They are gorgeous images and are called Christmas Critters. I chose this little mouse choir trio and coloured it with my watercolour crayons.

The image is layered on to white glitter board punched using my most recent punch purchase and I do love scalloped circles. The other papers are a thin see through paper with bits of white on like snow right at the back and then the square is a plastic silk effect piece both from my stash. The buttons were in a candy win from Sarah AKA Anime Princess. The ribbon is white pearlised and is from my stash and the sentiment is from the PB set above. At the bottom I used a tree border punch from Fiskars, I think, then put a piece of glitter card behind it.

You can just about see the effect in this picture - I hope.

The other challenges I am entering are : -

Cooking it up with Katie - recipe - Christmas, sparkle and border,

Alphabet Challenge Blog - C is for Circles (Scallop and snowflakes),

Daring Cardmakers - most recent punch,

Scrapbox Challenge - circles,

By the Cute and Girly - Winter Wonderland,

Crafty Cardmakers - Stamp something,

Use Your Stash - White cardstock and

Sophisticat Challenge Blog - Ribbon and buttons.

please let me know what you think, I love reading your comments.

First Scrap Page

Yes, everyone another first for me. It was inspired by the triple challenge at StuckOnUSketches with the sketch shown below,

then at Practical Scrappers they wanted you to use at least three ribbons and at Frosted Design they wanted Owls on your project. I know this may seem strange but I instantly thought of this picture of my eldest Dragon - Alex when she was 4 months old sitting in her Bumbo and looking at a book!!! Her wide eyes remind me of an Owl.

The Owls are from the Polka Doodles CD Rom - Jingle Jangles. The remaining elements are from Summer Driggs - Happy Halloween and Moments except for the piece with the journaling on this was from a Shabby Princess kit called Spontaneous Delights.

Alex is now 5 and really loves reading and is coming on so well I am really proud of her - but this photo will show her that her interest in books started at an early age!!!!
The word wise is made up of four fonts which you can find here as follows - W = JFWildwood, I = Mister Vampire, S = Frestyle Script (Word font) and E = Fairytale.

The other challenges I am entering this page in are : =

ABC Challenge - G is for Green,

Charisma Cardz - No backing papers,

La La Land Challenge - Ribbon,

Artful Inkables - use a technique you have never used before

Stamp, Scrap and Doodle - Anything but a Card, and

The Corrosive Challenge - No cards.

I hope you like this creation and please let me know in your comments.
