In Sympathy

Hi everyone in blog land what a wet and windy day it has been here. Now a good friend of mine at work recently lost her Father - he had a two year fight against cancer and inevitably lost. I am not good at sympathy cards but I hope she likes this one. I wanted to go for subtle colours and a flower always fits well with this type of card. I have used the sketch at Mojo Monday shown below - this is the first time I have

managed to do one of the sketches here. The flower is made up from some circles of different sizes which I have feather cut along the edges. I put a button in the centre with some fibre through it for interest. The circles were then mounted on to pale pink glitter card punched with my favourite scallop punch.

The idea for this flower is from the Polka Doodles CD Rom - Candy Doodles and I think Nikki showed it on one of her Create and Craft appearances. The card underneath is from Core'dinations Whitewash set, which has been lovingly distressed using my scissors and some sandpaper.

The semicircle is the other side of the whitewash card with a ribbon tied around it - eventually. The gems are from my stash and I used them to fill the empty space it the corner. I printed out the sentiment my self using a font I downloaded called, inappropriately, Selfish but I liked the look of it for this card.
I will also enter this card in the following challenges : -

Practical Scrappers - Colour/white core card stock,

Lots To Do - Distressing,

Tuesday Taggers - No Patterned Paper

La La Land Challenge Blog - Use punches,

Simon Says Challenges - Thinking of You and

All Sorts Challenge Blog - Bring out your bling.

I am really pleased with is card and I hope you will feel free to let me know what you think.

Hugs

Hi Ali

We have exacrly the same weather here in the Fens, but perfect excuse to stay in and craft. Always a difficult card to make, but the simplistic elegance is just right.

Thank you for joining in the fun at Allsorts this week.

Hi Ali

I deleted my previous comment as I noticed there was an error in it. I had a few problems posting last night!!!!!

So sorry about that.

I think we all struggle with sympathy cards and yet really it is even more personal to receive a handmade card in such circumstances.

I am sure your friend will appreciate the lovely gesture you have made.

You have made a lovely card and I love your handmade flower.

Thank you for joining in my challenge with Allsorts - I hope you enjoyed it.

Love Jules xx
